Ciper column: “Five knots for digital inclusion”
Quality connection, digital skills development and data governance are some of the points touched by the researchers of the NUDOS Millennium Nucleus in the column published in Ciper.
This May 17, in the context of World Internet Day, Ciper published the first column signed by all the main researchers of the Millennium Nucleus on Digital Inequalities and Opportunities; Ingrid Bachmann, Teresa Correa, Sergio Toro, Juan Carlos Castillo and Sebastián Valenzuela.
The article points out the five key knots to address digital inclusion in the country, aspects that would allow to take better advantage of the opportunities of digitization and face the challenges that arise in the current context.
“The pandemic revealed that the high internet coverage figures in the country hide deep inequalities in the quality of connection and in the uses and skills to use digital tools. This has important implications for how people can take advantage of the opportunities and avoid the risks of digitalization in different spheres of life, such as economic, labor, political, social, educational and informational,” say NUDOS members.
Quality connectivity, integrated and inter-ministerial work, focus on the development of relevant digital skills, digitization of policy and data governance are the most important points the researchers argue.
