Marco Jaramillo es PhD(c) in Communication Science from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC). Master’s degree in Social Communication with a specialization in Communication and Education (UC). Bachelor’s degree in History (UC). His research focuses on video game studies from a cultural, postcolonial, and educommunication perspective. His interest is in analyzing the relationships between video games, players, and sociocultural and political issues in Chile. Specifically, his doctoral thesis examines how young people appropriate the meritocratic discourse of a commercial video game (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) during their gameplay experiences in Santiago, Chile.
